When will this go away? And how will it really leave us?
First it began in a place far, far away.
Now it is at my doorstep.
Unwelcoming with undo ferver. Quietly seeping into communities pursuing the vulnerable ready to destroy. The face of malice and hate seeking unsuspecting martyrs. No immunity. Will it pass over my door or will it stay? How can we make it stop?
For now, we sit alone trying to slow down its spread. We are apart from many we love and give us so much joy. But this now, our living sanctuary.
From a distance a primrose blooms alone.
What can make a way to give us relief?
Sometimes we’re left with little, stripped of the essence we once were filled with. We sit abandoned yearning to be found.
Perhaps it will soon pass.
Perhaps it will be a while longer.
It may leave us shaken but not cold.
Indifferent but accepting.
Far removed but dutifully restored.
Once this abandons our dwelling place, perhaps, just perhaps we need to love each other more.
