No pomp or fanfare played into this Kings’ birth. God came into the world as a baby. We will never be the same.

“Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Saviour has been born to you. He is the Messiah, the Lord”. Luke 20:10,11

The night had gathered its’ gloom and the still fostered the close of another day. The townspeople from across Bethlehem had fallen to a deep slumber. The moon sheltered. The evening sky dark and beaten. I, myself, laid my head to rest after a long days’ work.

Yet, this was a night to be unlike any other.

Well into the night I awoke to a low rumble off in the distance. Faint but enough to wonder. The sound seemed eerily unfamiliar and I was a little frightened. I arose to see what it was.

There to the East was a clearing in the night sky as I had never seen. I remember it being peculiarly bright. And quite spectacular. I wiped the sleep from my eyes and strained to see. It was hard to know. As I peered through the shadowy darkness there was a strange sense of calm that came over me. A wave of peace drew me in and hush covered my laden-stricken body. A feeling I had never known. I intuitively knew something special had happened.

When I awoke the following morning, word on the street was a baby had been born. A special baby. Overnight, the young commoners had come into the city travelling a great distance and could not find shelter to sleep. And it was there in an old barn just on the outskirts of the old city where the baby boy breathed his first breath to life. He was to be called Jesus.

Jesus. That name, Jesus.

I had to go see him.

There were many. Many villagers, men, women and children flocking to see this baby. As I made my way through the crowd, there was a clearing where the baby lay. The gathering of so many enlightened my curiosity yet my walk slow and uninspired. I moved closer.

Some say He was born a King. Others, like myself, didn’t know. But if he were royalty, how is it he came into the world in such a lowly stead? I came to a resting place and in the distance, I still could only see a glimmer of this special baby.

Then, I fell to my knees. I began to worship this baby I never knew.

Across the countryside, villagers began falling to their knees in worship as well. There was singing and dancing and rejoicing. I began to weep. I knew he was The King.

Majesty born into the very ordinary. He came to love you and me and bring HOPE to a broken world. To give purpose in all who live there.

He is the King of Israel, Light of the World, Prince of Peace, Emmanuel, Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Redeemer, Lamb of God, Holy One.

He is the Saviour of the World!

  • You actually make it seem so easy with your presentation but I
find this topic to be actually something which I think I would never understand.
It seems too complicated and very broad for me.

I am looking forward for your next post, I will try to
    get the hang of it!
